First and foremost I want to thank you for praying for Julien and his family. I’m happy to report that Moses is now over 10 lbs and is doing very well. He is living with his family and they are doing a good job of taking care of him. Continue to pray for Julien as his in-laws continue to cause problems. Pray that Julien will have the wisdom to know best how to handle this and pray specifically that his in-laws would come to know the Lord as their personal savior through all of this. Many of you emailed asking how you could help besides praying and because of your generous gifts; Julien’s loan is now completely paid! When I shared this with him I wish you could of seen the look on his face! He was in complete shock that Christians in America wanted to help him and he was so thankful. Currently Julien’s mother is having some medical problems and I know that is weighing heavy on his heart so please join me in praying for her.
I’m very happy to let you know that the Puhls all arrived safely on August 23!! It was wonderful to welcome them back to Chad after being gone for over a year doing Home Ministry in the states and Germany. The best part was handing the keys back over to Frank!!! The more keys you have in Africa the more responsibility you have so I was very glad to give him back his handful of keys and go back to only having a few. It’s also wonderful to be able to walk into the next office and ask Frank a question instead of having to email him and wait for an answer. On the other side, my workload has increased and it feels like Grand Central station around here with so many people coming and going. But I wouldn’t change things for the way they were; I much prefer having the Puhls back.
I met my goal of finishing my Church History Class by the end of July except for completing my paper. I’ve chosen to write my paper on the history of the Grace Brethren Church in Chad and needed to wait until Puhls return in order to get information from Frank. Writing papers is not my area of expertise so please pray that I will say focused and get this completed. I’ve also started working on the LAST class I need to complete before returning to the states. I’m doing an independent study class on the book of Romans. It requires reading three different Romans commentaries and answering questions. The best part of this class is I don’t have to write a paper and there are no exams!!! Pray that I would continue to take time daily to work on this class. I’m required to spend 65 hours on this class so my goal is to spend at least an hour a day and I’m not always able to meet that goal.
I’m looking forward to attending our first All African Family Conference from Sept 26-30 in Kribi, Cameroon. The hotel we will be staying in is right on the beach and has hot water showers along with air-conditioning! Having grown up in California and Hawaii I love the beach and am really looking forward to having hot water showers and the ability to run an air-conditioner if needed! Please pray for safe travel and for a good time of fellowship as we meet all together.
