May Update

Hello everyone!

Looking back, I realized the last update that I sent out was in October 2016, so it’s time to send out another Heidi’s Happenings and update you on what has been going on.

My mom spent one night in the hospital with congestive heart failure but other than that, she has been doing okay health wise.  Her old lift chair stopped working while she was sitting in it so she has finally gotten a new one that fits her well.  Some new medication is helping her arthritis and some days she can get around better than others.  Rainy and cold weather is not her friend as that causes her to hurt more.

Pray for continual good health for my mom and for me as I help to care for her.

January-May I began taking classes to work on a Certificate in Medical Coding.  I started with Medical Terminology for the Health Professional online at IUPUI.  As I was praying about how I would fit this class into my already busy days, I felt like God said to me, “Just get up earlier!”  So that is what I did.  I now get up at 5:00 AM and work on my class for one hour before taking my shower and getting ready for the day.  Getting up at 5:00 AM made going to bed at 10:00 PM much easier.  I learned a lot and successfully completed the course.  I had signed up to take a class this summer but with my upcoming trip to Africa right in the middle of the class, I’ve decided to wait until the fall to take my next class.

I’m thankful for a scholarship (Child of Disabled Veteran) that pays my tuition.

June 6-13 I will be back in Bangui, Central Africa Republic, with a medical team from Three Stands.  We will be working with Dr. Paul Dibona at the Three Strands Clinic which is located right by his house.  It will be good to be back in Bangui even for a short visit.  I’m thankful that I still have support that covers the cost of this trip.  I will be taking two weeks of vacation to make this trip with travel time.

Pray for safe travels, our luggage to arrive without any issues, wisdom in serving and helping as many people as we can in our week there.

I appreciate each and every one of you and your faithful prayers for my mom and me.

Heidi
